Asian fashion is layered with colours, textures and even different intricate stories woven into every garment. With a full month of celebrating Asian heritage and culture, from 23 July to 31 August 2021 at Design Orchard, the Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFF) aims to champion the beauty of Asian culture through fashion.
This month-long celebration of Asian culture was made possible thanks to the many brands showcased at Design Orchard in collaboration with TaFF. From the displays designed by students from Raffles Design Institutes to a multitude of brand line-ups showcasing the finest of Singaporean designs, you too can be a part of this immersive retail experience and celebrate the depth of Asian culture.
Some of the interesting brands showcased at Design Orchard include a line up of jewellery collections from EDEN+ELLE, a socially conscious brand that aims to craft heritage and tradition into their gems, and Anmako Singapore, a textile-focused brand that combines the rustic tone of traditional Indonesian art with a “Japanese contemporary flair” to present a modern Singapore chic wear.
Well, purchasing garbs and garments isn’t the only thing you can do for the Heritage Festival. In the coming weeks, there will be a variety of event line-ups curated for the public to enjoy. From an Organic Batik Workshop by Nyana Nyana to fashion discourse with Peter Lee, the month of August is brimming with fulfilling activities for the public to appreciate and delight in Asian culture and heritage.
Visiting Design Orchard during the Heritage Festival is free for the public. However, do note that the activities held during August may be subject to change as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Head over to Design Orchard’s website to check out the variety of activities available and TaFF to find out more about the window displays.
